200th Anniversary Commemoration of Battle Between HMS Boxer & USS Enterprise

Boxer and Enterprise Week PosterThis week the Maine Military Historical Society in conjunction with the Maine Historical Society and others, are putting on some events to commemorate the battle between HMS Boxer & USS Enterprise off Pemaquid Point, Maine on September 5, 1813. The highlight of the week will be the graveside service in Portland’s Eastern Cemetery on Thursday,  September 5th.  The families of both captains, some all the way from England, will be present to lay wreaths. In addition many state and local dignitaries will be there, as well as The British Consular General from Boston, and a Royal Navy Attache from the British Embassy in Wasington, DC.
